III decade, April 2024. Dynamics of the market for railway glass shipments

The shipment of glass by rail to the Russian market (domestic deliveries + imports) in the third decade of April 2024 continued to exhibit negative dynamics relative to the same period last year – minus 37.1%.

In April 2024, the volume of glass shipped by rail to the Russian market amounted to 3.0 million square meters. m, which is 20.6% less than for the same period in 2023.

Analysis of glass shipments by month of 2023 indicates a low base in the first quarter of 2023, after which significant growth began. On the contrary, in 2024 there will be more uniform shipment volumes with a downward trend.

For the period from the beginning of the year to April 30, 2024, the volume of glass shipments by rail to the Russian market amounted to 13.3 million square meters. m, which is 19.5% more than for the same period in 2023.

Decrease in supplies of glass by rail for the period from January 1 to April 30, 2024 in two districts of the Russian Federation (in brackets - dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to March 31, 2024):

• Southern Federal District -31.7% (previously -31.9%);

• Central Federal District -24.3% (previously -23.4%).

Consumption of glass delivered by rail for the period from January 1 to April 30, 2024 increased in six districts of the Russian Federation (in parentheses - dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to March 31, 2024):

• Volga Federal District +98.6% (previously +222.7%);

• Far Eastern Federal District +86.9% (previously +90.4%);

• Northwestern Federal District +27.3% (previously +19.2%);

• Ural Federal District +15.8% (previously +19.1%);

• North Caucasian Federal District +15.7% (previously +34.7%);

• Siberian Federal District +13.5% (previously +41.1%).

The share of railway glass supplies to the Russian market in total consumption for 2 months of 2024 was ~21%.
