The Bank of Russia proposed to sharply reduce the register of small and medium-sized businesses

The Central Bank has prepared proposals that involve a sharp reduction in the register of small and medium-sized businesses. It is reported by Kommersant.

“Small and micro-enterprises require more conservative restrictions on the size of assets and debt,” the presentation of the Bank of Russia says.

The Central Bank intends to remove from the register companies whose assets and credit load exceed 8 billion rubles. Restrictions are also proposed to be introduced on the total volume of loans with state support for SMEs - in the amount of 2 billion rubles.

On July 15, the Central Bank announced that the SME register includes a large number of companies that fall "in the perimeter of large industrial groups, housing developers and banks."

According to the regulator, this leads to a distortion of the indicators of this segment of the economy, a decrease in the efficiency of the distribution of state support, and the risks of regulatory arbitrage.
