Prosecutor General threatened security officials with criminal cases for pressure on business

Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov demanded that his subordinates initiate criminal cases against the security forces for putting pressure on business, the main supervisory agency said on Wednesday.

"The Prosecutor General at the collegium pointed out to his subordinates the need for a tough response to the facts of non-compliance with the moratorium on inspections of entrepreneurs. <...> When detecting cases of illegal initiation of criminal cases <...> raise the issue of criminal liability of guilty law enforcement officials," the release says.

Prosecutors have been instructed to keep this area under special control, to report every quarter on the debts of local authorities to businessmen (this is one of the problematic issues on a national scale), to fight red tape and corruption.

They were also ordered to regularly meet with businessmen both online and in person, involving local officials.
