II decade, May 2023. Market analysis of railway shipments of glass

In the second decade of May 2023, the positive dynamics of glass shipments by rail to the Russian market continued (domestic deliveries + imports) - plus 7.4% compared to the corresponding period last year. In the first decade of May 2023 - plus 31.6%.

For the period from the beginning of the year to May 20, 2023, the shipment of glass by rail to the Russian market amounted to 13.5 million square meters. m, which is 15.4% less than for the same period in 2022 (a decade earlier - minus 17.0%).

Glass deliveries by railway transport for the period from January 01 to May 20, 2023 decreased in four districts of the Russian Federation (in brackets - the dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to April 30, 2023):

• FEFD -57.6% (previously -63.9%);

• VFD -49.6% (previously -53.9%);

• Southern Federal District -24.7% (previously -16.1%);

• CFD -7.5% (previously +4.0%).

The consumption of railway glass increased in the following districts of the Russian Federation (in brackets - the dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to April 30, 2023):

• NWFD +52.1% (previously +29.3%);

• North Caucasus Federal District +50.4% (previously +39.2%);

• Siberian Federal District +2.9% (previously -9.3%);

• Ural Federal District +0.4% (previously -10.6%).

For comparison: the dynamics of railway shipment of glass in January-March 2023 was minus 30.3%, and the dynamics of the entire glass market was minus 25.3%. The share of railway deliveries of glass to the Russian market in the total consumption of this product in 2022 amounted to about 20%.
