The Turkish company Yildirim Holding is going to build a plant for the production of sodium carbonate in the Zhambyl region. Interfax-Kazakhstan reports about it with reference to the press service of the regional akim.

The construction of the enterprise is planned to begin next year. Commissioning is scheduled for 2023.

“The design capacity of the plant will be 400 thousand tons per year. In the future, this figure will increase to 1.2 million tons per year. It is planned to invest $ 325 million in the construction of the facility, ”the message says.

At the same time, after the plant is launched, taxes amounting to $ 8 million will be deducted to the budget annually, the press release says.

Yildirim Holding is the largest Turkish holding operating in 50 countries of the world on four continents in the mining, chemical, electric power industries, as well as in the transport sector. Yildirim Holding has been operating in Kazakhstan since 2013; the company participates in the production of chromium concentrate in the Aktobe region.

Sodium carbonate (soda ash) is used in the manufacture of glass, for the production of detergents, used in the process of obtaining aluminum from bauxite and in oil refining.
