Heineken to Recycle Most of Used Glass Containers in Brazil

Heineken may take over the recycling of most glass containers in Brazil. The company has commissioned a glass recycling plant in the state of Pernambuco. It is expected that the enterprise will recycle several thousand tons of glass annually.

"We currently recycle 20% of all glass in Brazil, and about 75% remains available for recycling," says Heineken Vice President for Sustainable Development and Corporate Relations Mauro Homem. "We would like to collect glass wherever it is - in condominiums, public buildings. Not only in Pernambuco, but also in other states.

The company plans to use recycled glass not only for its own purposes, but also to sell it.
