Glass production for Russian metro trains has begun to be mastered in Belarus

The production of glass for Russian metro trains has begun in Belarus, Victoria Borisova, Deputy Director for Economics at KUVO, told journalists, as reported by Virtual Brest.

“We have already delivered a pilot batch to the enterprise that makes pneumatic doors,” Victoria Borisova said. She explained that these doors are installed on metro trains that are manufactured in Mytishchi at Metrovagonmash. Not long ago, this enterprise began delivering trains to the Minsk metro.

At the same time, the manufacturer began delivering glass to the Lomonosov pilot plant, which also produces pneumatic doors for metro trains. In general, about 50-55% of the Belarusian enterprise’s revenue comes from the Russian market. Supplies are made to manufacturers of large vehicles, tractors, etc.

Belarusian plants such as MAZ and MTZ also actively order glass. Currently, the Belarusian glass manufacturer has two production sites – in Mogilev and in the Great Stone industrial park. Raw materials are purchased in Russia and Belarus. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade recognizes glass from a Belarusian company as a domestic component, which allows Russian manufacturers to receive more points on the localization scale.
