Sibsteklo supports a unique format for developing Muay Thai in Novosibirsk

The Excalibur Martial Arts Center hosted demonstration training sessions in Muay Thai, conducted by the legendary Thai fighter Sagadped. The two-week visit of the famous athlete was provided by OOO Sibirskoye Steklo (Sibsteklo, one of the leading glass container manufacturers in Russia, an asset of RATM Holding).

Sagadped is a professional world champion in Thai boxing, a two-time champion of the Lumphini and Rajadamnern stadiums, and a champion of Thailand, MITSUBISHI 8 MAN CHAMPION. He is currently a mentor to current ONE FC fighters and is one of the top 10 coaches in Thailand.

Young athletes aged 6 to 12 years old took part in the master classes.

– In Russia, Muay Thai developed on the basis of the Soviet boxing school, with an emphasis on the placement of hand and foot joints, and the Thais, for example, teach clinch work – fighting in a standing position – using their own methods, thus expanding the technical arsenal of children, – explains the European champion in Thai boxing, master of sports, coach Nikita Minkin. – Also, the unique experience of training with Thai coaches allows you to “soak up” the culture and philosophy of one of the most spectacular oriental martial arts, to reveal your best qualities, not only physical, but also moral.

According to him, the popularity of Muay Thai in the Novosibirsk region is gaining momentum, currently more than 2,000 people are involved in it: Novosibirsk residents have many victories in federal and world championships and competitions. With the assistance of Sibstecl, teenagers from the risk group, cadets from the social rehabilitation center for minors Orientir, of which the enterprise is a partner, also begin training in Thai boxing.
