Glass Worker Day

Dear friends, dear colleagues!

I sincerely congratulate you on a wonderful holiday - the Day of the Glass Industry Worker!

The professional holiday of workers of the glass industry in Russia has been celebrated since 2000, November 19 - on the birthday of the outstanding Russian scientist, poet, educator, one of the most prominent luminaries of world science, statesman and public figure Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov (19.11.1711-15.04.1765 ).

Mikhail Vasilievich Lomonosov wrote:

“... I sing praise to you in delight

Not precious stones, nor gold, but Glass ... "

("Letter on the benefits of glass")

This is how the luminary of world science expressed the value of a wonderful material for mankind, this is how he showed the role and importance of people who are able to give the world glass. Mikhail Vasilyevich was the creator of the chemical production of glaze, glass, porcelain. He developed the technology and formulation of colored glasses - smalt (pieces of a homogeneous opaque mixture of glass and metal oxides), which he used to create mosaic paintings.

Today we produce glass for all sectors of the national economy of Russia: military-industrial, construction, agricultural complexes, electronics, instrument-making, transport, furniture industries and many other segments, at the macroeconomic level. Modern society cannot exist without our glassmaking profession.

Currently, we are facing serious tasks, but I am sure that we will overcome any obstacles and find the necessary solutions for the effective operation of the glass industry and all our plans will be implemented.

We, like all creative people, are always looking for new ideas and proposals for the glass market. Time shows that there are no unsolvable tasks for us, despite any economic and political upheavals in the state.

The StekloSouz Association of Russia has been working for the benefit of our excellent industry for more than 22 years!
