Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory will open a new champagne production line in September

A new line for bottling champagne is planned to open at the Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory (DZIV OJSC) at the end of September. Its capacity will be up to 15 million bottles a year, said the general director of the enterprise Magomed Sadulayev on Sunday.

"At the end of the month, we will additionally open a new line for bottling champagne. The volume will be up to 15 million bottles per year," he said.

Now, according to him, the first line of the plant produces up to 13 million bottles of sparkling wine per year. In total, the company plans to increase production volumes to about 40-45 million per year by expanding the area for growing grapes up to 3 thousand hectares. The total investment cost for launching the second line is about 400 million, Sadulayev said.

The Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory was founded at the end of the 19th century, and is currently one of the largest champagne producers in the Russian Federation. The company produces natural wines from Chardonnay, Aligote, Cabernet Sauvignon and others. According to the Dagestan Ministry of Agriculture and Food, in 2017, the enterprise was one of the first in Russia to receive a license to produce wines with a protected designation of origin.
