Investments in the Chudovsky fiberglass plant amounted to 600 million rubles

The Governor of the Novgorod Region, Andrey Nikitin, together with the Minister of Industry and Trade of the region, Ivan Chekmarev, visited the production of heat-insulating products based on glass staple fiber of URSA Eurasia LLC in Chudovo.

The URSA production center was created on the basis of the Chudovsky Glass Factory, built in 1876. It was the first factory for the production of lamp glass in Russia. In the 60s of the last century, a workshop for the production of heat and sound insulation materials was opened at the plant.

In the 90s it was modernized according to international standards and it became the first site of the European company URSA on the territory of Russia for the production of heat-insulating materials. In 2017, it became part of the largest German construction holding Xella Group.

URSA Eurasia LLC has implemented one of the nine investment projects in the Chudovsky District this year. Here, a glass furnace was overhauled and an additional gas cleaning zone was installed. It is planned that this will significantly improve the purification of the air emitted into the atmosphere during production. The volume of investments in the modernization of production amounted to more than 600 million rubles.

The leaders of the URSA company noted that investments in the Chudovsky plant are the key to its long-term development and the stability of the company's business in Russia, the press service of the government of the Novgorod region reported. The investment has helped improve environmental performance as well as energy efficiency and product quality.

The company believes that the plant's products have increased their competitiveness in the sales markets in the Russian Federation and in export directions. Now products are supplied from Latin America to the Far East. Andrei Nikitin stressed that today, due to the growth in the volume of construction in the region, this industry is experiencing a shortage of a number of materials.

The company plans to develop the plant in Chudovo and introduce modern technologies at it. So, in 2022, the plant will switch to its own electricity production with further utilization of the generated heat.
