Kobzev: Rostec is interested in the restoration of a glass factory in Tulun

The authorities of the Irkutsk region and Rostec are discussing the participation of the state corporation in the restoration of a glass factory in the city of Tulun, as well as in the construction of a waste processing plant. This was announced on Thursday, December 17, in an interview with TASS by the governor of the region Igor Kobzev.

“We are in a dialogue with companies, because the more investment projects there are, the higher the regional budget will be filled. For example, a few days ago, negotiations were held with Rostec, which is ready to finance the construction of a number of industrial facilities, including we are discussing the restoration of a glass factory in Tulun, which will create new jobs. The state corporation is ready to get involved in the construction of a waste recycling plant, ”Kobzev said.

The glass factory has been operating since 1963 and was a city-forming enterprise. The plant produced window and rolled glass, glass containers, dishes and other products. At the end of the 1990s, the company went bankrupt. In 2019, an advanced development area (ASEZ) was created in Tulun to restore the city's economy after a devastating flood. The restoration of a glass factory is being considered one of the projects within the TOP.

A waste sorting and waste processing complex is supposed to be built in the city of Angarsk to receive waste from large cities in the southern part of the region and partly from the coast of Lake Baikal. By the end of the year, the design of the facility and the stage of the state examination should be completed. The exact terms of construction of the plant and sources of financing have not yet been determined.
