March 2024. Production of construction materials increased by 3.9 percent

According to operational data from Rosstat, in March 2024, the production of other non-metallic mineral products (building materials excluding products of the metallurgical, woodworking and mining industries) in monetary terms at comparable prices increased by 3.9 percent compared to the same period last year:

• Jan. 2024 – plus 5.5%;

• Feb. 2024 – plus 9.3%;

• March 2024 – plus 3.9%.

For the period January–March 2024, the increase in the production of building materials was plus 6.1% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

If we look at the dynamics of natural indicators, then in January – March 2024 compared to the same period last year, out of 24 analyzed positions.

19 materials showed positive dynamics:

• plus 35.3% – Silicate wall blocks;

• plus 31.7% – Fiberboards made from wood or other lignified materials;

• plus 26.1% – Elevators;

• plus 25.6% – Chrysotile cement pipes and couplings;

• plus 23.1% – Thermally polished sheet glass and sheet glass with a matte or polished surface, but not otherwise processed;

• plus 20.0% – Glazed ceramic tiles for interior wall cladding;

• plus 17.3% – Plastic materials for covering floors, walls or ceilings in rolls or in the form of tiles;

• plus 17.2% – Plywood;

• plus 13.9% – Wallpaper;

• plus 13.3% – Ceramic tiles for floors;

• plus 12.0% – Particle boards and similar boards made of wood or other lignified materials;

• plus 8.9% – Nets, canvases, mats, mattresses, slabs and other products made of fiberglass, except glass fabrics;

• plus 8.9% – Portland cement, aluminous cement, slag cement and similar hydraulic cements;

• plus 8.4% – Concrete ready for pouring (ready-mixed concrete);

• plus 6.6% – Building bricks (including stones) made of cement, concrete or artificial stone;

• plus 3.1% – Ceramic facade slabs and carpets made from them;

• plus 3.0% – Blocks and other prefabricated construction products for buildings and structures made of cement, concrete or artificial stone;

• plus 2.8% – Ceramic non-refractory building brick;

• plus 1.3% – Wooden doors, their frames and thresholds.

A decrease in production output of up to 10% occurred in the production of 4 materials:

• minus 1.0% – Natural sands;

• minus 3.9% – Granules, crumbs and powder; pebbles, gravel;

• minus 5.5% – Windows and their frames are wooden;

• minus 8.8% – Pipes, hollow profiles and their steel fittings.

A decrease in output from 10% to 20% was recorded in the production of 1 material:

• minus 16.3% – Sheet glass cast, rolled, drawn or blown, but not otherwise processed.
