A plant for the production of float glass will be built in the Chechen Republic

The Chinese company plans to build a plant for the production of float glass with a capacity of 300 tons per day on the territory of the Grozny Industrial Production Special Economic Zone within two years. The corresponding agreement was signed by the Chechen authorities at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with a company from China.

- "At present, in the context of the current geopolitical situation and sanctions against the Russian Federation, attracting new investors is of particular importance for the region. And this project is relevant, is of great importance for the socio-economic development of the Chechen Republic. Our primary task is to create a SEZ on the territory of all the necessary conditions for investors, residents are provided with a significant package of tax and customs benefits, preferences," Muslim Khuchiev, chairman of the region's government, told TASS.

The Chechen authorities also agreed on cooperation with the Russian-Chinese Business Council association. Evgeny Markin, executive director of the Russian-Chinese Business Council Association, noted that the Chechen authorities are efficient, which inspires confidence in the success of the implementation of the agreements.

The industrial-production SEZ "Grozny" was established in December 2019, 256 hectares of industrial land were allocated for it. Its expert council has reviewed the applications and has already approved the first four residents. It is planned that the SEZ will become one of the main growth points for the economy and industrial potential of the Chechen Republic.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, organized by the Roscongress Foundation, takes place from June 15 to 18. The theme of the forum this year is "New World - New Opportunities".
