At the KBR plant, the line for the production of medical glass will start working in September 2024

The Chegem Glass Factory in Kabardino-Balkaria (KBR) will launch a second line for the production of medical glass. The equipment will be supplied by a manufacturer from China, the volume of output will reach 300 million rubles per year, doubling the plant’s productivity, Shamil Akhubekov, Minister of Industry, Energy and Trade of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, told TASS.

“Currently, the Chegem Glass Factory is implementing an investment project for the production of glass for medical purposes. The volume of production for it will be 300 million rubles, the volume of investments in fixed capital will be 280 million rubles. The company has entered into a contract with a manufacturer from China for the supply of equipment, the launch of the second line is planned for September 2024. Thus, the volume of output at the plant will double,” said Akhubekov.

He emphasized that the KBR government is interested in supporting the Chegem Glass Factory. A working group has been formed to promote the implementation of the project “Development of the glass industry in the KBR” on the basis of the plant, chaired by the Prime Minister of the KBR government, Aliy Musukov.

The enterprise has sufficient reserves of raw materials, the bulk of which is uninterruptedly supplied from other regions of Russia.

“The enterprise has the main specialized specialists; the rest of the staff will be recruited after the launch of production. If the need arises, the enterprise will be assisted in recruiting workers with the involvement of the district administration and the employment center,” he added.

Glass for medical purposes is an import-substituting product in demand in the country. The company has been operating in this market for a long time and has established large contacts for the supply of products; there will be no problems with sales, notes Akhubekov.
