From April 1, 2023, the operator of the labeling system "Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies" (CRPT) will begin mandatory labeling of beer (as well as drinks made on its basis, cider, poiret, mead and non-alcoholic beer) in kegs.
As they say in the message of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from October 1, 2023, beer will be labeled in glass and PET containers, and from January 15, 2024 - in aluminum cans, the CRPT press service reported. This agreement was reached by the CRPT jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade today, July 27.
Since 2019, certain types of goods have been labeled in Russia: cigarettes, shoes, underwear, medicines and other products. A special Data Matrix code is applied to the goods. It can be used to track the movement of goods from the factory to the buyer. From April 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022, beer labeling was carried out in an experimental format.
The CRPT promised to provide equipment for mandatory labeling of the beer industry free of charge. According to the forecast of the Union of Russian Brewers, if mandatory labeling is introduced in Russia, beer production will decrease by 20-30% and its cost will increase by 10%.
