We inform you that the 8th issue of the monthly scientific and technical journal "Glass and Ceramics" for 2022 is out of print.

- FORMATION OF CRYSTAL LINES FROM LITHIUM HEPTAGERMANATE IN LITHIUM GERMANATE GLASS

The recording of continuous crystalline lines with an oriented structure, formed by the ferroelectric phase of Li2Ge7O15, under the action of a focused femtosecond laser beam in the volume of glasses with a molar composition, %: 20 Li2O; 80 GeO2. An unexpected difference was found between the crystalline phases precipitated in this glass under the action of a laser beam and during heat treatment in a furnace. The results obtained are of interest for the development of crystalline channel waveguides in lithium germanate glass.

- ON THE POSSIBILITY OF USE OF COBALT-CONTAINING WASTE OF METALLURGICAL PRODUCTION FOR OBTAINING COLORED GLASSES AND GLASS ENAMEL

The results of a study of the main indicators of cobalt-containing wastes of metallurgical production for use as a substitute for scarce expensive cobalt oxide in the production of colored sectional glass and ground glass enamel are presented. The experiments established the chemical, mineralogical and granulometric composition, proposed a processing technology with the release of Co3O4 with a mass content of 36.45%. The addition of this oxide made it possible to obtain blue-colored glass, which confirms the applicability of cobalt-containing waste to replace pure cobalt oxide. Also, to assess the possibility of using these wastes in the process of obtaining glass enamel, experiments were carried out and the obtained samples were studied by physicochemical methods, the optimal conditions for obtaining and its amount as a chromophore and an activator of adhesion in the glass enamel–metal system were determined.

- CARBON FOOTPRINT OF THE LIFE CYCLE OF GLASS PACKAGING

Glass containers are discussed as a type of packaging that has a minimal negative impact on the environment. The results of independent scientific studies describing the options for solving the problem of reducing specific greenhouse gas emissions in the glass industry are analyzed. Publications have been selected to minimize uncertainties and expand coverage. The range of factors influencing the carbon footprint of products was assessed. A mathematical model has been built that makes it possible to calculate the carbon footprint of real industrial enterprises. The scaling of the life cycle for a period of 5 years (12 recycling cycles) was carried out for two ways of recycling glass containers: introducing 20% cullet into the charge and washing good glass containers. A graphical comparison of the obtained results is presented. The ways of stimulating the recycling of glass containers, increasing the share of glassware in food packaging are described.
